Central Region Quarantine & Livestock Ltd

The responsibility for collecting, quarantining, and preparing livestock for international commercial export to new markets — particularly sheep — is managed by Central Region Quarantine and Livestock Ltd (CRS-QLS). Depending on the livestock category and commercial requirements, some animals are bred and raised directly on the farm, while others are procured at approximately two to three months of age and subsequently reared under controlled management systems until they reach the appropriate stage for commercial sale and export readiness.

CRS-QLS operates under a structured livestock health and biosecurity framework designed to support international export standards, animal welfare, disease prevention, and long-term herd sustainability. The veterinary team maintains a comprehensive and permanently protected livestock health recording system covering every individual animal throughout its productive lifecycle. This integrated system supports traceability, quarantine compliance, vaccination control, and preventive veterinary management.
